In a recent interview with Charlie Rose, Bill Murray was asked what he wants to do and he said<\/a>, “I\u2019d just like to really see how long I can last as being really here, really in it, really alive, in the moment.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On last night’s run I was impressed with how many houses were decorated for the holidays. I then realized the unique opportunity of taking pictures right then, in that moment. So I got out my phone. Just the cool houses at first, I thought but then, why not every house with any sort of decoration?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I imagined graphs showing various decorative metrics: LED lights vs. old bulbs, something animated, percentage of houses with an inflatable, lone christmas trees in windows. As I framed up each shot standing in the street or on property line, I was an artist, making art. How to get a full range of scale, interesting color combinations. Taking videos of animatronics, I only wished I had a better camera. By the end, I had 107 pictures, 22 of which I would keep. Here are two favorites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is this what Bill M. meant by “really being here?” To be spontaneous. To bring your whole self to this moment. To do things now that you might not get a chance to do later. Reminds me of a quote which I’ll leave you with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
